“Most companies provide you with a building, and then try to figure out what kind of a door you need. It’s just the opposite with Erect-A-Tube. They start out with the specific door necessary to meet your needs, and then attach a building.”

When Clint Webster earned a pilot’s license in 1994, he knew the next logical step was to rent a hangar for the plane he’d been building. That’s what Clint thought. What happened was a jolt that led him and his father, Ron, to see a fork in the road for the family business. Before they knew it, they were deeply involved in a project that would benefit Denver’s general aviation community.

“It was a problem of too much demand for too little space,” says Clint. “There was a five to seven year waiting listing for Tee hangar space, wherever we went in Denver and around the state.” Since the Webster family’s primary business was owning income property and managing all the details involved, their logic prevailed and it was decided that the answer was to build hangars and lease them to an eager audience.

“We knew we wanted quality and reliability,” Ron notes. “There were some hangars here and there, but they couldn’t meet the safety or security standards we wanted or that clients would expect.”

Clint started an intense search for hangar companies nationwide, and narrowed the possibilities down to three companies. A combination of experienced engineering, excellent workmanship, and outstanding customer service narrowed the list further to just one: Erect-A-Tube.

“I’d flown around the country on my search, and I talked to people who had projects similar to ours,” Clint adds, “and I heard good things about Erect-A-Tube. Then, when they flew out to see us and answer our questions, I knew this was the kind of customer service we wanted.”

All the “finalists” in the hangar search had comparable pricing, but no one came close to the level of service and engineering afforded by Erect-A-Tube.

“These buildings are easy to put up, and not complicated, but the engineering is ingenious,” Ron points out. “We’re working on unit number 64, just since 1996, because of the trust we put into this product. Erect-A-Tube has served us well.” Depending on size, some buildings have gone up in a few weeks with two men, others require just a forklift, still others have had small construction teams and might take several days. The Websters do all the initial site preparation and cement work, but the ease of putting up the building is never a question.

According to Clint, “Most companies provide you with a building, and then try to figure out what kind of a door you need. It’s just the opposite with Erect-A-Tube. They start out with the specific type of door necessary to meet your needs, and then attach a building.”

Unlike other hangars where the motor driving the door is located on the floor, Erect-A-Tube’s motor and engineering are located at the ceiling. This format for the door mechanism also ensures safety, since kids can’t get tangled up in the motor when it’s so far out of their reach.

“Believe me, we wanted something rugged and foolproof, because anything can happen with some tenants, including the plane itself getting caught in the door as it raises to the ceiling, taking the plane with it,” Clint says. “With Erect-A-Tube, we eliminate a lot of those problems right from the start.” That’s why they can say that after five years, they haven’t had a single damaged door.

Erect-A-Tube provides a “whole-system” package, where the door and building are mated to each other, making it less likely for student pilots and infrequent recreational pilots to ruin the gear or their storage property. Permits satisfying all levels of government—local, county and state—are part of the service package provided when an Erect-A-Tube building is in the works.

“Erect-A-Tube fabricates its own quality doors. That makes a landlord feel confident that he’s offering the best possible product for his own customers’ satisfaction,” Clint adds. “The quality definitely comes all the way down the line.”
